Messages from the Sky By Fred MoraMarco

In the poem “Message from the Sky,” planes were hijacked and people were about to die. It was their last chance to say goodbye because they know there’s no way to stop it. The poem is about the 9/11 which happens to be about the world trade center and the Pentagon. It happened when the plane crashed the twin towers and killed many citizens in there. Some were trapped at the top and some were trapped at the bottom. The hard part was the buildings were on fire so there was no way the people on the top floor could get out. Plus the elevator did not work. They made a plan to go to the very top but the door was chained up with locks. It was too hot for them to take, they had no choice but to jump out of the building and kill them. Rather then being burned alive. I think the characters in the poem are trying to say goodbye to their loved ones. It makes me feel unforgivable to think that someone would hijack you to destroy a destination. That’s a unpredictable move. Nobody would of thought it out that way. But it suddenly happened. My favorite line was, “Mommy, the building is on fire, there’s smoke coming through the walls, I can’t breathe. I love you Mommy, goodbye.” It made me think of the last moment that you’re in. Saying goodbye with your very last breath. I choose this line because it was about life and death. It was the end for that person which is hard to except dying that way. “Unbelievable!”

When I heard about the attacks I was at home watching TV then I saw a plane crash two towers. I was like wow that’s harsh very dangerous. I thought it was fake but I guess it was real. I also found out about it after TV, my sister said, “Hey u heard about the 9/11 thingy.” I was like no what’s that but then I realized that I was watching it on TV so I said yea actually I did u mean the world trade center attack thing? She said, “How does u know?” I laughed uhh TV. I was just wondering how the people felt like when they were in there. What were they thinking about? The news is where I got the information I didn’t really care about the news when I was younger but now I watch it almost everyday. I was shocked seeing the towers falling down into the other tower. People yelling for help. Must have been hard to actually give up that moment. I started thinking if I was in there I would of tried to find a axe and chop up the ground or something I would stay still. Its your life for goodness’ sakes. I remembered that the terrorist were trying to hijack even more then just one plane they were going for four planes. That would be a lot worst then just one and I heard their destination was to destroy the main part of the city. Their targets were the American icons without it, everything shawl perish. For example, in Paris the Eiffel tower and New York the twin towers.

Like I said, I would of tried to find something useful and fight my way through instead of sitting there doing nothing. If I was going to die already why don’t I just try helping out the other people live, well that’s what I think. I would have also called my loved ones and say goodbye before doing what makes me who I am. I would have said, take care everyone don’t be such a pain, live your life well, and don’t get into any trouble goodbye because I don’t want them to worry so much it would make me sad. It sounds a lot better in my language.
